About

Michelle Jean

Michelle's artistic journey began when a painting she created won a Minted contest. She subsequently left corporate work to travel Europe and the UK for eight months by bicycle, seeking clarity about pursuing art professionally.

Self taught, Michelle is constantly learning, and draws her inspiration from all that surrounds her, both the spectacular and the quiet beauty in the mundane. She believes it's possible to find inspiration anywhere and in anything, and to allow the universe to utilize you as a conduit by which to express itself.

With this philosophy in mind, Michelle doesn't overthink her art, but rather allows it to flow naturally and intuitively, to achieve an expression of feeling that can't be achieved with analytical understanding of the technique.

Her creative mind is overflowing with simultaneous ideas. She works across multiple mediums and materials, always exploring new ways to express herself.

With over 10 years of marketing and graphic design experience, Michelle resides in San Diego with her dogs Nvaya and Georgie.

Her work appears through Minted (art prints), Target and Pottery Barn Kids (greeting cards), and West Elm (photography). She exhibits original paintings in San Diego galleries and her artwork has been featured on HGTV's "Desert Flippers."
